- Job Description
We are seeking an Estimator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with Sales, Project Management, Engineering and the Field to provide a detailed estimate of all labor and materials required to complete the Scope of Work for custom unitized curtain wall projects. You will analyze the details of each potential project and incorporate lessons learned from previous projects to generate competitive bids.
- ANALYZES SCOPE OF WORK:
- Analyze architectural/engineering documents to fully understand project scopes.
- Identifies custom requirements new to the company and notes details.
- Collaborate with Internal Teams to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions to meet requirements.
- Ensures scope of work in final contract matches scope of work sold.
- LABOR ESTIMATES:
- Accurately calculates the labor cost for Shop, Engineering, Field & Project Management based on an analysis of previous projects as well as adhering to set Estimating Standards.
- MATERIAL ESTIMATES:
- Accurately calculates the amount and type of material (extrusions, dies, paint etc.) & required parts to deliver to the contracted specifications.
- Solicits bids from multiple vendors and ensures proposals are "apples to apples” and adhere to project specifications.
- PROBLEM SOLVING:
- Work closely with internal teams to develop innovative approaches to complex challenges and identify solutions while accurately estimating cost.
- Ability to negotiate while maintaining relationships.
- PROJECT TRANSITION:
- Effectively transitions project to internal project teams with all pre-sale obligations noted.
- Assists teams in interpreting project requirements and details.
- WORK MANAGEMENT:
- Successfully manages competing priorities and meets scheduled deadlines.
- Complies with work processes.
- Work is typically submitted with few, if any, errors; Implements strategies to ensure mistakes are not repeated.
- Makes decisions in a timely manner after considering all factors and available information.
- Clearly expresses information internally/externally and is able to articulate creative and relevant solutions to work challenges.
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in applied science or relevant technical field experience is preferred.
- Estimating or equivalent experience should include 5 + years.
- Experience reading and analyzing construction and project management documents.
- Familiarity with basic engineering and architectural principles in structures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Work Environment & Location:
- Ability to travel is up to 5%
