Location: Fully Remote - Must reside within 1 hour of Charlotte, NC (equipment pickup required)
Compensation: $18 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday (Standard Business Hours)
Duration: Contract through Open Enrollment Period (with potential for extension) 12 week opportunity
Overview
A leading patient advocacy and healthcare access organization is seeking Benefits Verification Specialists to support their team during the Open Enrollment season. In this role, you'll help patients gain access to specialty medications by verifying insurance benefits, assisting with prior authorizations, and coordinating with healthcare providers and pharmacies. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on improving patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits for specialty pharmacy medications.
- Communicate with patients, providers, and payers to confirm eligibility and cost-sharing details.
- Document and update benefit information accurately in multiple systems.
- Assist in resolving coverage gaps and identifying reimbursement options.
- Support prior authorization and appeal processes as needed.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and company privacy standards.
- Deliver patient-centered service while meeting accuracy and productivity expectations.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in benefit verification, patient access, insurance processing, or medical billing.
- Working knowledge of medical and pharmacy benefits, copays, deductibles, and prior authorization requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple systems and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM or reimbursement systems preferred.
- Must live within one hour of Charlotte, NC for equipment pickup prior to remote work.
