Staff Software Engineer - Go / Rust / C++
We're partnered with an early-stage startup led by true AI pioneers who are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help build the backend systems that power a new generation of AI-driven products.
They are a small, ambitious company founded by ex-DeepMind leaders who've already built and shipped generative AI products used by billions of people. They've seen what it takes to get research out of a lab and into the real world, and now they're doing it again, from scratch. This time, we're focused on augmented knowledge workers: tools that don't just automate tasks, but genuinely help people think better, move faster, and do higher-quality work. The backend is at the heart of this - it's where performance, reliability, data, and product meet.
As a Staff Engineer, you'll be building and shaping the systems that everything else depends on. That includes designing and implementing core backend services and APIs, building systems that scale cleanly as usage grows and owning services end-to-end, from early design through production and iteration. You'll also be doing some infrastructure work (cloud architecture, reliability, performance, and tooling) and will work closely with ML, product, and frontend engineers to turn ideas into shipped features.
Key experience needed;
- 5+ Years' experience in SW Engineering with strong knowledge of Go / Rust / C++
- Expertise building and operating meaningful backend systems in production
- Experience building APIs and services that other engineers actually enjoy using
- Exposure to infrastructure, cloud systems, or platform work
You don't need to be an ML expert - but you should be curious about AI products and excited about building real systems around them. Above all, we are looking for demonstrable excellence and evidence of high-performance.
