Staff Manufacturing Engineer
Description
We're partnering with a fast-growing industrial technology company that's transforming how high-power electrical systems are manufactured. They are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering leader to own manufacturing process design, scale-up, and production excellence for complex electromechanical systems.
This is a hands-on, on-site role (5 days/week) with high visibility and impact across product and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and DFx across assembly, quality, and reliability
- Define and implement robust manufacturing processes, including sequencing, critical parameters, and assembly recipes
- Drive quality, repeatability, throughput, and yield in prototype and production environments
- Act as a technical escalation point for production and contract manufacturing issues
- Lead root cause analysis and data-driven continuous improvement initiatives
- Design and validate prototype tooling and capital equipment, working with third-party equipment builders
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up
- Perform line balancing and capacity planning to meet takt time and throughput targets
- Maintain process documentation and support engineering change management
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians; lead engineering teams as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field) and 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering
- Strong background in DFM, process development, and production scale-up
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes including Injection moulding, die casting, machining, assembly automation
- Experience leading capital equipment design and deployment
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and external vendors
- Experience using PFMEA, DOE, SPC, and root cause analysis tools
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments (Jira or similar)
- Ability to travel 20-25%, including internationally
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong CAD proficiency (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, Creo, 3DX, or similar)
- Experience with DFM/DFA and solid understanding of GD&T
- Knowledge of motion systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sensors
- Power electronics assembly experience in energy, automotive, aerospace, semiconductor, or electronics manufacturing
- Industrial engineering optimization or warehouse and line layout experience

- Salary Range: $150,000 - $230,000 USD (Reno-based role)
