Safety Specialist / Safety Manager
Description
We're hiring a proactive Safety professional to oversee health and safety across three local sites supporting converting, warehousing, and small plastics manufacturing operations. With 200+ employees and expansion underway, including new warehousing, robotics, and automation, this role offers real ownership, visibility, and career growth as the organization scales.
What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, and training programs across three facilities.
- Partner with OSHA and other regulatory agencies to ensure full compliance.
- Lead safety onboarding, monthly safety topics, and required GHS training for employees.
- Conduct routine facility audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, document findings, and drive corrective actions.
- Analyze incident trends to implement proactive safety improvements.
- Train employees on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and emergency response.
- Promote a positive, engaged safety culture with leadership and employees.
- Manage emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and fire drills.
- Serve as the main contact for regulatory agencies, insurance reps, and service contractors.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual safety system inspections.
- Support upcoming automation and robotics integration to enhance operational safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Associate degree in a safety-related field (Bachelor's preferred).
- Experience in safety within manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and related regulations.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Passion for continuous improvement and building a strong safety culture.
