Construction Superintendent
Description
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to join the team on the WALK Bridge Replacement Project in Norwalk, Connecticut - the largest infrastructure project in Connecticut history and one of the most complex bridge replacement efforts in the Northeast.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key leadership role on a $2+ billion, high-profile, multi-year bridge and rail infrastructure project involving marine work, structural steel, complex sequencing, and live rail coordination.
About the Project
The WALK Bridge Replacement is a critical transportation corridor project involving the replacement of a historic movable bridge serving Amtrak and Metro-North rail lines. The scope includes heavy civil construction, structural steel, marine foundations, coordination with multiple agencies, and intricate phasing to maintain active rail service.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all field operations for assigned scopes of work
- Plan, coordinate, and execute daily construction activities to meet schedule and safety goals
- Supervise craft labor, foremen, and subcontractors
- Coordinate work with project management, engineering, and safety teams
- Enforce project safety standards, quality control, and environmental compliance
- Oversee sequencing and logistics in a constrained, active transportation environment
- Participate in look-ahead scheduling, weekly planning, and progress meetings
- Resolve field issues proactively and maintain productivity
- Interface with owners, inspectors, and agency representatives as required
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience as a Superintendent in heavy civil construction
- Strong background in bridge, marine, structural concrete, or steel structures
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects ($100M+ preferred)
- Familiarity with DOT, rail, or transit-related projects is a strong plus
- Proven ability to lead crews in complex, high-pressure environments
- Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills
- OSHA certification preferred
Why This Opportunity
- Be part of a career-defining, legacy infrastructure project
- Long-term project stability on a multi-year build
- Work with one of the most respected heavy civil teams in New England
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and growth opportunities
- Exposure to complex marine, bridge, and rail construction unlike typical roadway work
If you are a hands-on heavy civil leader who thrives on complex builds and wants to leave a lasting mark on one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the region, we'd love to connect.
