Description
Our client, an independent leading supplier and trader of marine fuels, is seeking a proactive Trade Controller to be responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the trade lifecycle while supporting both middle office and back-office functions. This position serves as a critical link between traders, operations, and accounting teams, maintaining data integrity and optimizing financial processes.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Validate and verify all physical and paper trades in TechOil, ensuring consistency with contracts, purchase/sales orders, deal confirmations, BDNs, and other supporting documentation.
- Perform daily trade profit and loss reporting, investigate variances, and provide actionable insights.
- Execute KYC checks, manage onboarding requirements, monitor credit limits, report overdue exposures, and assist with liquidity and financing assessments.
- Support month-end close by reconciling trade PL with accounting records, closing TechOil trading books, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee trade-related invoicing activities, including validating invoice data, ensuring timely issuance and receipt of invoices, and resolving discrepancies between operational documents, trading system records, and invoices.
- Track purchase contract triggers and volume obligations, ensuring timely follow-up on commitments.
- Collaborate with system owners to enhance TechOil workflows, improve automation, and maintain high data quality standards.
- Troubleshoot system or data issues impacting trade flows and coordinate with internal teams or vendors to prevent disruptions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in commodity or energy trading preferred;
- Strong understanding of trade lifecycle processes and PL analysis.
- Experience with trading systems (TechOil, ETRM/CTRM platforms).
- Knowledge of inventory management, logistics, and physical movement documentation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across front, middle, and back-office functions.
- Ability to travel internationally to Holland and Dubai (<5%).
