      Position Summary

       This position is responsible for meeting the organization's goals and objectives by assisting in planning and implementing the EHS Excellence program while ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and local governmental EHS regulations.

      Essential Tasks and Duties:

      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.  

      • Designs and implements environmental policies and procedures, including but not limited to written programs, recordkeeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, and training.
      • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations by staying informed about changes, interpreting requirements, and implementing necessary adjustments to programs, processes, and policies.
      • Maintains the operations of paper mill water systems and secondary water treatment (MBBR).
      • Conduct and document regular Environmental audits and inspections as needed to assure compliance with applicable permits, regulations, and requirements.
      • Coordinate visits from internal and external regulatory authorities and file annual local, state, and federal environmental reports, potentially including air, waste, water, Tier II, and Form R.
      • Manages and schedules environmental projects and contractors.
      • Assist the site safety committee with inspections to assess compliance with policies and regulations, identifying, determining, and implementing corrective and preventative measures for areas with existing or potential accident and health hazards.
      • Unloads process chemicals and ensures proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
      • Establish and promote a culture of continuous improvement in Environmental performance by evaluating existing programs, identifying areas for enhancement, coordinating the development of an Environmental improvement strategic plan, and collaborating with site managers.
      • Analyze chemical exposures to determine safety hazards, identify trends, and develop safety strategies to correct and prevent potential accidents or health hazards.
      • All other duties as assigned
      Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
      • BS required in a related field
      • Certifications, required/preferred include:  Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), Certified in basic operations for wastewater, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Environmental Manager (REM)
      • 3-6 years' experience in a related field
      • This position is a subject matter expert in environmental matters.
      • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
      • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects the privacy of confidential/sensitive  information
      • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
      • Proactive; exercises sound judgement and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
      • Self-confident, self-motivated, polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

      Salary wage range: $60,000-$66,500
