Senior Backend Infrastructure Engineer | AI Builder Tools | San Francisco (Hybrid or Onsite)
One of the most technically ambitious YC startups I'm partnered with is hiring a Senior Backend Infrastructure Engineer to help productionize and scale their AI-driven builder tools.
This isn't a traditional DevOps or SRE position - it's a backend engineering role with deep AWS experience, ideal for someone who loves building, deploying, and scaling systems from the ground up.
You'll work directly with the founding team (ex-deep learning, infra, and LLM veterans) to take internal AI builder tools from prototype to production - ensuring they're robust, secure, and infinitely scalable.
What You'Ll Be Doing
- Take internal Node.js/TypeScript systems and deploy them to production on AWS
- Build and manage the infrastructure that powers scalable AI products
- Productionize backend systems for performance, reliability, and observability
- Implement containerization (Docker, ECS) and contribute to architecture decisions
- Work closely with engineers to expose APIs and backend data for front-end integration
What They'Re Looking For
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience (Node.js, TypeScript, APIs)
- Strong AWS experience (ECS, Lambda, CloudFormation/CDK, etc.)
- Proven track record deploying and scaling backend systems in production
- Comfortable with databases, containerization, and CI/CD workflows
- Experience in startup or small-team environments where you've owned the full lifecycle
Nice To Have
- Experience with queueing systems (Kafka, SQS) or serverless architectures
- Background building AI-powered or large-scale web systems
- Familiarity with performance monitoring and distributed systems
