Position Details
Hartford Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their Surgical Critical Care team! The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for complex surgical and trauma patients in the ICU. The critical patient population includes complex trauma, transplant, vascular, general surgery, neurosurgery, interventional radiology and other critical care patients as the service needs dictate.

Setting: Inpatient, Critical Care, Surgery
Schedule: Full-time, Permanent Nights Premium differentials offered.

Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants Role Scope:
Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider's practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications
Requirements
- Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
- Training: Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent critical care experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an ICU setting. Proven ability to independently manage ICU patients, including proficiency in ventilator management, resuscitation, and performing critical care procedures within the APP scope of practice. Comfortable working independently in a night shift environment.
