About the Role
Under minimal direction, this role supports key functions across Corporate Giving, the DG Employee Assistance Foundation, the DG Literacy Foundation, Public Relations, and Government Affairs. You'll be at the center of DG's community impact work - supporting grants, partnerships, volunteerism, and philanthropic activations, while ensuring the smooth daily operations of a fast-moving, purpose-driven department.
What You'Ll Do
- Field calls from stores and customers requesting grant information.
- Review grant applications to ensure submissions meet required criteria.
- Enter proposals into the grant database accurately and efficiently.
- Support the creation of donor communications, press releases, social content, and check-presentation materials.
- Coordinate communication with nonprofits, external partners, and cross-functional internal teams, including drafting letters, sharing guidelines, and reviewing applications.
- Assist with issuing in-kind donations and maintain accurate tracking/logs.
- Support departmental operations: scheduling, calendar management, meeting coordination, invoice processing, and travel arrangements.
- Help plan and execute volunteer events - including employee recruitment, post-event thank-you communications, and sourcing guest speakers for quarterly CSR luncheons.
- Prepare reports on charitable activities as needed.

- Excellent multitasker with the ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
- A hands-on contributor - someone who can roll up their sleeves for everything from moving boxes for events to engaging confidently with senior business leaders.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Good judgment and common-sense problem solving; able to make thoughtful decisions quickly.
- Knows when to ask questions and proactively communicate important details.
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Preferred: nonprofit, social work, philanthropy, or community-impact background.
- Bonus: bilingual candidates encouraged.
