Job Description
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist for Amazon will be pivotal in supporting, developing, and managing EHS performance. This role involves enhancing compliance and risk management processes, improving EHS performance, and integrating EHS into daily operations. The EHS Specialist will develop and execute compliance programs, ensure adherence to global EHS policies, and maintain relationships with stakeholders to achieve compliance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance EHS compliance and risk management processes.
- Drive understanding and engagement to improve EHS performance.
- Support the development and execution of EHS compliance programs.
- Implement environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards.
- Provide training and communication to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to achieve best-in-class compliance.
- Conduct investigations to prevent occupational diseases and industrial health hazards.
- Promote EHS awareness through effective communication and participation.
- Serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues.
- Support regulated waste management, including consolidation and inspections.
- Conduct compliance tasks such as stormwater sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
- Conduct EHS audits, develop action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures.
- Perform risk assessments and recommend risk mitigation measures.
- Establish and manage the safety committee.
- Drive continual improvement efforts to reduce site safety and environmental risk.
- Support site stand-up meetings, safety committees, and floor inspections.
Essential Skills
- Experience in EHS, health and safety, and environmental health.
- Manufacturing plant experience.
- Knowledge of EHS regulations.
- Risk assessment skills.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in EHS support, especially in warehousing.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and personnel issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in promoting EHS awareness and serving as a key contact for safety issues.
- Experience with regulated waste management and compliance tasks.
- Ability to conduct EHS audits and develop action plans.
- Experience in performing risk assessments for new processes and equipment.
- Ability to work any shift and available for flexible shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends.
