Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading building envelope solution supplier that effectively drives energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are seeking an Engineering Manager in our Garland, TX Plant.
Job Summary
The Manager, Engineering leads the development, implementation, and installation of production-related capital equipment, systems, and facilities within Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies. This role partners closely with product managers, plant managers, and service departments to support both short-term and long-term strategies that improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability. The Manager oversees project specification, design, procurement, and cost management across assigned projects.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise engineering staff and technicians, delegating project tasks to ensure timely and effective completion.
- Manage the full project lifecycle including specification, design, procurement, installation, start-up, and commissioning of capital equipment and facilities.
- Develop and maintain accurate project cost estimates and schedules to align with funding requirements and delivery timelines.
- Provide field supervision during installation and startup phases, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including purchase orders, contracts, and reports, to support record-keeping and future project planning.
- Oversee prioritization and organization of projects, coordinating workflow and resource allocation within the engineering unit.
- Establish and monitor productivity metrics to evaluate staff performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Administer budgets related to staff training, travel, and project expenses.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external engineers, vendors, and consultants as required to support project execution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proven experience in project engineering with demonstrated leadership of engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of project management principles including scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
- Intermediate proficiency with CAD software and computer applications.
- Solid knowledge of business law fundamentals applicable to contracts and procurement.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles (Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics) chemistry, mathematics, and physics.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems related to chemical processes and systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills to represent the engineering unit in various forums.
Education And Experience
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
- A Master's degree or advanced certification (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project engineering or capital equipment management, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects from design through installation and start-up.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop engineering teams and coordinate cross-functional projects.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment is highly preferred.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based work with frequent visits to manufacturing or production facilities.
- Travel up to 75%, nationally and internationally
- Exposure to typical plant environments, including noise, dust, and machinery hazards; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
- May require occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines or address urgent issues.
- Must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively in both office and plant settings.
