PetSmart Invites Community to Support PetSmart Charities Pet Hunger Awareness Day

Help Address Hunger Challenges Facing Pet Families in September

PHOENIX, Sept. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- When people face hunger, their pets can too. Nearly 90 million U.S. households include pets, and PetSmart Charities estimates that 30 million pets live in homes with people coping with food insecurity. That is why throughout September, PetSmart is inviting its pet-loving community to support PetSmart Charities Pet Hunger Awareness Day^® on Sept. 30, 2025.

Pet parents can help provide meals for pet families facing hunger while stocking up on food for their own. On Sept. 27-28, 2025, for every bag of Authority or Simply Nourish dry dog or cat food purchased at a PetSmart store or at PetSmart.com, PetSmart will donate $1 to PetSmart Charities' efforts to alleviate pet hunger.* Additionally, throughout September, PetSmart stores are hosting a donation drive where the pet-loving community can donate funds at checkout and are also invited to donate Treats Rewards points to PetSmart Charities. Treats Rewards members will receive 2X Treats Rewards points on all donations and all donations will go directly to PetSmart Charities to help pets in need.

To make an even greater impact, PetSmart and its partners are contributing $200,000 to PetSmart Charities ahead of Pet Hunger Awareness Day. Pet food companies Royal Canin and Hill's Pet Nutrition, pet food manufacturer Alphia, and PetSmart's creative agency, Deutsch, have kicked off the month with their donations.
