Middle School Boys Baseball Coach
Description

Position Summary
BASIS Independent Brooklyn Upper is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Middle School Boys Baseball Coach. The Head Coach will be responsible for all aspects of the middle school baseball program, including but not limited to player development, strategic planning, team management, fostering a positive and competitive team culture, and ensuring the program aligns with the school's mission and values. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of baseball techniques and strategies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to the academic and personal growth of student athletes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and philosophy for the boys' baseball program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success.
- Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices and training sessions that focus on fundamental skills, advanced techniques, game strategies, and physical conditioning. Provide constructive feedback and individualized instruction to student-athletes.
- Develop and implement game strategies and tactics. Make informed decisions during competitions to maximize team performance.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team environment that promotes strong relationships, accountability, and a commitment to team goals.
- Prioritize the academic progress, physical health, and emotional well-being of all student-athletes. Serve as a positive role model and mentor.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with players, parents, and school administration.
- Ensure adherence to all school policies, athletic department guidelines, league rules, and state athletic association regulations.
- Oversee and mentor any assistant coaches, ensuring alignment with the program's philosophy and goals.
- Stay current with coaching techniques, rule changes, and best practices in baseball.
- The middle school team will practice with the varsity team, so the head coach will also have to collaborate closely with the varsity head coach to plan joint practices.
Qualifications
- Previous successful coaching experience at the middle school level or equivalent
- Comprehensive knowledge of baseball techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Demonstrated commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Successful completion of background checks and other required clearances.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
