This role works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, wound care specialists, and other members of a interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized plans of care. - The ideal candidate combines strong clinical skills in physical therapy with specialized knowledge of wound management, tissue healing, pressure injury prevention, edema management, and patient education. When the wound care census is low, the physical therapist will be expected to support patient care needs within the acute care setting, as appropriate to their scope of practice and clinical expertise. - Perform comprehensive physical therapy and wound assessments, including evaluation of wound characteristics, tissue integrity, edema, circulation, mobility, strength, balance, and functional limitations. - Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient diagnosis, wound status, functional goals, and overall medical condition. - Provide evidence-based wound care interventions within the therapist's scope of practice, which may include: * Wound cleansing and dressing management * Debridement techniques within applicable scope of practice and credentialing * Edema and lymphedema management * Compression therapy * Therapeutic exercise and functional mobility training * Positioning and pressure-relief strategies * Electrical stimulation or other adjunctive wound-healing modalities when indicated * Scar and tissue management * Patient and caregiver education - Monitor wound progression and document changes in wound size, tissue characteristics, drainage, periwound condition, pain, and other clinically relevant findings. - Educate patients, caregivers, and healthcare staff regarding wound prevention, skin care, positioning, mobility, pressure redistribution, nutrition-related considerations, and home management. - Identify signs of infection, vascular compromise, deterioration, or other conditions requiring medical evaluation and communicate concerns promptly. - Recommend appropriate assistive devices, pressure-relieving equipment, seating systems, positioning devices, and other durable medical equipment as clinically appropriate. - Participate in interdisciplinary wound care rounds, case conferences, quality-improvement initiatives, and prevention programs as applicable. **Requirements** - Current state license or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist. - Current CPR/BLS certification. - Clinical experience in physical therapy, rehabilitation, wound care, or a related setting. - Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills. ### Preferred, but not required: - Wound care certification such as **Certified Wound Specialist (CWS)**, **Certified Wound Care Physical Therapist (WCS/WCC-related credential, as applicable)**, or another recognized wound-care credential. - Experience treating pressure injuries, diabetic wounds, venous or arterial ulcers, surgical wounds, or complex/chronic wounds. - Experience with lymphedema or edema management and compression therapy. - Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, outpatient wound care, home health, or other complex-care environments. **Min** USD $41.07/Hr. **Max** USD $73.93/Hr. **Benefits** Benefits Eligibility is based on your scheduled FTE status and Job Category - Competitive health, prescription, vision and dental benefits & wellness credit for eligible employees - 403(b) retirement plan with generous company match and “catch up” provision - Paid Time Off (PTO) & company paid holidays - Tuition reimbursement - Mental Health resources and other employee related wellness opportunities through our Employee Assistance Program - Employer paid Short & Long Term Disability benefits for eligible employees - Voluntary Benefits - Discounts on auto & home insurance and Verizon plans - Mercy’s Rewards & Recognition Program rewarding employees for going above and beyond in living Mercy’s Mission and Values **EEO Statement** Mercy Health Services is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.
