The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the safety and security of residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be alert, reliable, and committed to maintaining a safe environment for all. **Key Responsibilities:** - Monitor and patrol shelter premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates. - Assist in maintaining order and ensuring adherence to shelter rules and policies by residents, visitors, and staff. - Respond promptly to alarms and disturbances, investigating the cause and taking appropriate action. - Provide a visible security presence to deter potential incidents and reassure residents and staff. - Conduct regular checks of the facility, including sleeping areas, common areas, and outdoor spaces. - Report any irregularities, suspicious activities, or safety hazards to shelter management. - Assist in the management of access control, ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises. - Provide assistance and support to residents and staff as needed, including conflict de-escalation and first aid if required. - Maintain detailed logs and records of incidents and activities during each shift. - Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary. **Qualifications:** - California BSIS Guard Card is ***REQUIRED*** - Previous security experience is a plus - High school diploma or GED. - Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred. - Strong observational and problem-solving skills. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations. - Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. - CPR/First Aid certification is a plus. - Understanding and empathy towards the needs of homeless individuals and families. **Physical Requirements:** - Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods. - Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally. - Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations. **Benefits:** - \- Weekly pay every Thursday. - \- Health Insurance - \- Opportunities for advancement within the security department.
