(ESI) **Location:** Oceanside, CA (In-person) **Pay:** $75,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience, knowledge, skills, and education **Reports to:** Accounting Controller ### Own a piece of where you work At ESI, the people who do the work also own the company. We have been 100% employee-owned through our ESOP since 2018, and every employee-owner shares in the growth of the business at no cost to them. ### What does ESI do We are a federal contractor providing facilities maintenance, water treatment, and other support services to military facilities across the country. We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team, learn every corner of how it runs, and help keep our contracts and books accurate. ### What you will do - Maintain our customer contract database in QuickBooks, and post invoices daily and as needed, keeping a close eye on contract compliance - Review daily cash transactions and deposits, and post entries so accounts receivable and cash balances stay accurate - Help maintain prepaid and accrual general ledger accounts, including posting, reconciling, and managing supporting schedules - Support the Accounting Controller with month-end and year-end closings, including accruals and reversals, asset and liability reconciliations, and timely revenue and expense recognition - Prepare financial analysis and reports for internal and external customers, such as job profitability, job costing, and labor hours - Pitch in across the department, including accounts payable and payroll, and cross-train so you understand the full accounting process - Support and guide our divisions and employees when they have questions - Follow company policies and stay in compliance with state and federal laws and GAAP ### What skills you bring - 5+ years of accrual accounting and general ledger experience - Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables - Solid understanding of income statement and balance sheet fundamentals (preferred) - QuickBooks experience (preferred) - Sharp attention to detail and strong organizational skills - Clear written and verbal communication - The ability to meet tight deadlines and think critically to resolve issues - Discretion with confidential information - Comfort with technology, multi-tasking, and a fast-moving environment ### Why you will like working here **Ownership that** **grows with you** - **ESOP:** ESI makes yearly contributions of stock or cash to your ESOP account. Employees become eligible with 1,000 hours worked in a 12-month period, and you join on the next January 1 or July 1. - **401(k):** Available after 90 days through John Hancock, with a company match of 25% on your contributions up to 8% of salary (discretionary). **Time to recharge** - **Paid holidays:** ESI provides 12 paid holidays per year (schedule set annually) - **A paid Christmas break:** ESI closes between Christmas Day and New Year's Day (four extra paid days in 2026), and you are paid for it. - **Vacation** starts accruing on your first day, beginning at 10 days a year and growing with tenure. - **Paid sick leave** that starts accruing on day one - 7 days per year (unused days roll over to a maximum of 15 days) **Health and security** - **Medical, Dental and Vision:** ESI pays a strong majority of your own premium and a competitive share of your dependents' premiums. Coverage begins the first of the month after 30 days. - **Company-paid life and AD&D** ($25,000 each) and **long-term disability** (60% of monthly earnings, up to $8,000 a month), at no cost to you. > *Benefit eligibility: medical, dental, and vision are available to full-time employees regularly scheduled for 30+ hours per week.
