We have an exciting opportunity for a senior structural engineer to serve as a technical leader within our dams, hydropower, and water resources team. **Responsibilities include:** - Leading the design of hydraulic structures and other structural engineering projects, including projects related to dams, spillways, canals, pump stations, valve houses, and other hydraulic structures. - Serving as a project manager responsible for scope, schedule and budget. - Overseeing the preparation of plans, calculations, specifications, and other design documents for bidding and construction. - Serving as an engineer in responsible charge of reviewing, approving, and applying professional engineering seals to final plans, specifications, and reports. - Performing condition assessments of existing structures. - Evaluating and analyzing existing structures. - Conducting field inspections of project sites to assess existing conditions. - Supporting construction administration for projects in construction. - Mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced team members. - Providing QA/QC. - Client management. - Attending day and night client meetings as necessary. - Conducting necessary travel. **The successful candidate must have:** - A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil or structural engineering, or architectural engineering (with an emphasis on structures) from an ABET accredited college or university - At least eight (8) years of relevant structural engineering work experience - Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state with the ability to obtain a license in California within twelve (12) months of being hired. **The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:** - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Experience working in a multi-disciplinary project team setting to deliver construction documents and reports. - Experience designing and analyzing hydraulic structures and other water-related structural projects. - Strong technical writing skills and experience writing reports, specifications, and technical memorandums. - Both client and project management experience. - Experience preparing proposals by developing scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules. - Knowledge of California Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 350, and AISC 360. - Experience with Army Corps of Engineers Engineering Manuals related to hydraulic structures and FERC Engineering Guidelines. - Experience with seismic evaluations and earthquake resistant designs. - Experience with structural engineering software programs including finite element analysis and CAD programs such as RISA 3D, SAP2000, and AutoCAD. - Mentoring experience. - A Structural Engineer (SE) license.
