## Description

Job Title: OAC Skate Floor Guard

Department: Parks and Recreation

Reports To: Recreation Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Safety Sensitive: No

Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Level: 1

Driving Status: No

Work Environment: Overlook Activity Center

Summary: To consistently provide a safe environment for all patrons while maintaining a family atmosphere. Actively skate throughout all rink sessions providing assistance, enforcing rules and providing first aid when necessary. Be able to provide first aid and document incidents when necessary. Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from October through May. Limited hours will be available during summer months (June -September).

Essential Functions

1. Follow the OAC Employee Manual and perform all duties and functions of an OAC employee.
2. Protect the safety and health of all patrons using proper skills (i.e. scanning, whistles, and rule enforcement).
3. Possess and apply facility knowledge.
4. Provide excellent customer service through consistent, fair, and courteous enforcement of all rules.
5. Be able to perform basic first aid when necessary.
6. Fill out incident reports when necessary.
7. Ability to work at least 3 weekends a month.
8. Other duties as assigned.
9. Perform a pre-skate floor inspection prior to each skate session or event, including dust mopping and a visual inspection to ensure the skating surface is clean, safe, and ready for use.

Physical Requirements

1. Ability to demonstrate physical fitness to include frequent light to occasional heavy lifting (up to 30 lbs.) standing, and walking for long periods of time, bending, pushing, and pulling.
2. Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently.
3. Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
4. Ability to roller skate at a minimum skill level to effectively execute job duties.
5. Ability to verbally communicate professionally and effectively with stakeholders.
6. Ability to read, understand, and respond to various department-level forms.
7. Ability to see clearly enough to monitor work environment and identify relevant information or materials.
8. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility by performing basic cleaning duties as needed throughout daily operations.

Competencies

1. Knowledge of facility operations.
2. Ability to assist with general duties for other staff in the event of their absence.
3. Ability to demonstrate tact and patience while dealing with customers.
4. Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work habits to meet ever-changing schedule requirements.

Required Education and Experience

Entry Level

CPR and First Aid (Preferred)
