Features of this position: - Leave on Time - Shared On-Call Schedule - Work/Life Balance ***Schedule**: Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm 30 min lunch**|** **Location**: Brier Clinic, San Bernardino, CA* **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES** - Assist psychiatrists and psychologists in reviewing the condition of the patients and determining the correct treatment plan. - Assess the mental status of psychiatric patients; Develop treatment plans for patients. - Prescribe medications for patients based on condition and treatment plan. - Monitor the effects of medications on a patient's mental health. - Evaluating the actions and mental capacities of patients in your care. - Performing advanced age-specific clinical assessment/triage, care planning, treatment, interventions, and evaluation/monitoring; identifying patients in early crisis; collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team for early intervention and optimal patient outcomes; documenting care and care planning legibly in the medical record. - Performing duties/designated procedures within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice and in accordance with medical center policies, protocols, techniques, guidelines, standardized procedures, and state and federal regulations; participating in medical record review and data collection. - Providing patient/family education and support in complex clinical situations; providing information to appropriate individuals regarding plan of care, e.g., hospital course, postoperative plan of care, expected outcomes, and follow-up care. - Contributing to designated clinical research, conducting and/or participating in research studies, recruiting/screening patients to participate in research studies, performing literature review; imparting findings to the primary investigator; and identifying and implementing best practices as appropriate. - Serving as a preceptor for students; providing training and teaching to students and multidisciplinary healthcare team members. - Participating in the development, review, revision, and implementation of standards of care, standardized procedures, policies, protocols, techniques, guidelines, patient education materials, and documentation tools. Recognizing unsafe and ineffective practices; making recommendations for improvement; utilizing chain-of-command for resolution of clinical practice issues. - Taking responsibility for professional growth and development; identifying ongoing learning needs for developing and maintaining expertise in specialty area and sources of professional enrichment to meet those needs; setting goals for professional development; demonstrating progress on previously set goals. - Enhancing the body of knowledge in area of specialization through participation with professional organizations, presentations, posters, research activities and written publications. - Attending in-services; reading required information; sustaining knowledge of information communicated through various venues; accessing information resources regularly, e.g., reading and responding to e-mail, reviewing pertinent intranet sites. - Serving as a resource/preceptor to other members of the healthcare team; assisting with orientation and training of new staff; supporting student nurse educational programs. - Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant pathophysiology and knowledge of health care economics. - Performs standardized procedures as approved by the physician. - Participates in regular update meetings on CHDP, VFC, FPACT, CDP, and any other programs pertaining to the enhancement of knowledge of SAC Health programs as assigned. - Participates in clinical planning for SAC Health as an FQHC facility as assigned. - Demonstrate the ability to be culturally sensitive respect diversity and work effectively and with individuals of different cultures and socioeconomic status. - Other duties as assigned. **QUALIFICATIONS:** - Education: Master's Degree and completion of NP curriculum required. Doctorate preferred. - Licensure/Certification: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license and California Nurse Practitioner Certificate required; Preferred to have a Nat'l Provider Identifier (NPI); Recommended DEA License. - Experience: 2+ years of experience as a RN in a psychiatric/behavioral health setting is required. Management experience is preferred. 1+ experience as a psychiatric nurse Nurse Practitioner, Behavioral Health practitioner is preferred. Experience with using an electronic medical record is required. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. - Essential Technical/Motor Skills: The ability to use a computer on a routine basis and complete required documentation. Use of word processor, spreadsheets, and the internet. Ability to transition to Electronic Health Records (EHR). - Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate positively and effectively with all staff in a multidisciplinary environment. Ability to conduct meetings and present in a public forum. Strong interpersonal relations skills. Fluency in English and Spanish preferred. Ability to maintain a professional attitude in difficult situations and communicate effectively. Understands needs of clinic and works well in a team environment. - Essential Mental Abilities: Must have critical thinking for comprehensive treatment planning, empathy for building therapeutic rapport, cultural competence for engaging diverse populations, emotional intelligence for effective communication, adaptability for navigating complex environments, and strong communication skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
