This position is responsible for managing gate operations across a six-acre transportation and distribution facility, ensuring the secure, compliant, and efficient movement of tractors, trailers, employees, visitors, and contractors. Unlike a traditional security guard role, this position functions as an operational partner to site leadership, transportation teams, and warehouse operations. The successful candidate will utilize technology, critical thinking, and professional judgment to mitigate risks, maintain security standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and support uninterrupted logistics operations. This role combines security oversight, transportation coordination, customer service, and access control administration. This position builds upon the responsibilities identified in the current Access Guard role while expanding operational, and logistics coordination responsibilities. **Key Responsibilities**   - Control and monitor all vehicle, visitor, contractor, and employee access to the facility. - Verify driver credentials, delivery documentation, trailer numbers, seal integrity, and scheduled appointments prior to entry. - Maintain strict adherence to facility access requirements and company security protocols. - Process inbound and outbound traffic through gate management systems. - Issue access authorizations as required.**Transportation & Logistics Coordination** - Coordinate the efficient flow of inbound and outbound LTL traffic to prevent congestion and operational delays. - Communicate trailer locations, dock assignments, and yard status updates to warehouse and transportation teams. - Support dispatch, transportation, and operations leadership by providing real-time information regarding arrivals, departures, and exceptions. - Monitor yard activity and escalate issues impacting service levels or operational efficiency. - Assist with carrier compliance verification and transportation documentation review.**Security & Risk Management** - Conduct routine inspections of vehicles, trailers, and facility entry points. - Monitor security systems, cameras, access controls, and alarm notifications. - Identify and report suspicious activity, unauthorized access attempts, or policy violations. - Initiate incident reporting and documentation procedures for safety, security, and operational events. - Support loss prevention initiatives and facility security audits.**Compliance & Documentation** - Maintain accurate electronic records of all gate transactions, vehicle movement, and visitor activity. - Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and transportation security procedures. - Prepare daily gate activity reports and communicate operational observations to management. - Track and document security incidents, trailer discrepancies, seal violations, and unauthorized access events.**Customer & Driver Relations** - Serve as the first point of contact for drivers, visitors, carriers, customers, and vendors entering the facility. - Provide professional direction and assistance while maintaining a strong customer-service mindset. - Resolve routine gate access issues and escalate exceptions when required. - Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.**Emergency Response & Incident Management** - Respond to security, safety, and facility-related incidents in accordance with established procedures. - Coordinate with management and emergency responders when necessary. - Support business continuity efforts during operational disruptions. - Maintain situational awareness of all activities occurring at the facility entrance and surrounding yard areas. --- **Qualifications** **Required** - High School Diploma or GED. - Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, transportation, access control, security operations, dispatching, warehouse operations, military, law enforcement support, or related fields. - Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, web-based access control systems - Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced operational environments. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. - Ability to work independently with limited supervision. - Valid Sora Card needed**Preferred** - Experience supporting LTL, cross-dock, freight, transportation, distribution, or warehouse operations. - Knowledge of yard management systems (YMS), transportation management systems (TMS), or gate management software. - Understanding of DOT, transportation, and supply chain security practices. - Experience conducting investigations, incident reporting, or compliance audits. **About HRforGrowth:** HRforGrowth is a full-service HR and talent partner built to support companies that are scaling, transforming, or navigating change.
