## Description

Please note that this is a grant funded position and will be scheduled for 17 hours a week for approximately one year.

-  
- Evaluate documents for scan readiness and flag any that require repair or protective enclosure
- Safely handle potentially fragile materials in accordance with established preservation standards
- Operate an overhead book scanner to digitize manuscript logbooks safely and accurately
- Ensure consistent image quality and perform basic post-processing tasks (cropping, rotation, file naming, file moving)
- Transcribe scanned logbooks using machine-assisted tools
- Upload completed files to a digital access repository
- Track daily scanning progress and update project logs and metadata as needed
- Perform basic maintenance on scanning equipment and report issues promptly

- Scanning experience preferred
- Familiarity with archival handling and digitization best practices a plus
- Proficiency with file management, spreadsheet and image software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, IrfanView , Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel)
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and meet productivity targets
- Ability to handle repetitive tasks
