## Description

**Part-Time Health Technician**

**Orton Academy Charter School** **Grades 2–8 | Part-Time | 4 Hours per Day**

**Position Summary**

Orton Academy Charter School is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-focused **Part-Time Health Technician** to support the health and wellness needs of students in grades 2–8. The Health Technician will work closely with school administration, staff, families, and healthcare providers to help maintain a safe and healthy school environment.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, is comfortable responding to minor illnesses and injuries, and can maintain confidentiality while handling student health information.

**Schedule**

- Part-time, approximately **4 hours per school day**
- Schedule to be determined based on school needs
- School-year position

**Essential Responsibilities**

- Provide basic first aid and health support to students experiencing illness, injury, or other health concerns.
- Assess student complaints and determine when a student should return to class, remain in the health office, or be referred to a parent/guardian or healthcare provider.
- Administer medications and other approved health-related treatments in accordance with school policies, parent/guardian authorization, and applicable requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health and medication records.
- Monitor and maintain student health plans, including asthma, allergy, medication, and other identified health needs.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns as directed by school procedures.
- Coordinate with school administration regarding health-related emergencies and student needs.
- Maintain appropriate first-aid supplies, health office materials, and emergency supplies.
- Assist with required student health screenings, documentation, and follow-up.
- Help ensure staff have appropriate information regarding students with significant health needs while maintaining student confidentiality.
- Follow school emergency, safety, and crisis-response procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming health area.
- Document student visits and health-related incidents accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support students' ability to safely participate in the school day.
- Perform other health-related duties as assigned by school administration.

**Qualifications**

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with children in a school, healthcare, childcare, or similar setting preferred.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Nursing, medical assistant, CNA, EMT, or other healthcare experience is preferred but may not be required depending on the candidate's qualifications.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate during student health situations.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information.
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with school administration and staff.
- Successful completion of required background checks and school employment requirements.
