This flexible, part-time independent contractor opportunity is ideal for a dentist seeking to maintain a practice schedule that supports work-life balance. The one-day-per-week schedule offers a meaningful clinical role with minimal administrative and practice overhead, allowing the Dentist to focus on delivering high-quality patient care. The selected contractor will have the support of a dental assistant and support staff. **Position Summary** The Contract Dentist will evaluate adult patients presenting for dental care; diagnose dental and oral health conditions; develop treatment plans; provide preventive, restorative, and basic dental services; and coordinate referrals for specialty care when indicated. **Who We Are** Truesdale Medical Center provides patient-centered healthcare services in North Charleston. We work directly with Palmetto Community Care, a nonprofit organization that provides case management services for people living with HIV. **Key Responsibilities** - Conduct comprehensive and problem-focused dental examinations. - Diagnose dental and oral health conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans. - Provide preventive dental care, patient education, and oral hygiene counseling. - Perform routine and basic dental procedures within the scope of practice and available resources. - Prescribe medications and order diagnostic studies as clinically indicated. - Refer patients to dental specialists or other providers when needed. - Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation. - Collaborate with the dental assistant and interdisciplinary care team to provide coordinated, patient-centered care. - Follow all applicable professional standards, infection-control procedures, and regulatory requirements. **Qualifications** - DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school. - Current, unrestricted South Carolina dental license. - Current DEA registration, if applicable to prescribing responsibilities. - Clinical experience providing general dentistry services to adult patients. - Strong diagnostic, treatment-planning, and clinical skills. - Commitment to compassionate, respectful, patient-centered care. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills. - Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with onsite clinical staff. - Proficiency with electronic health record and dental documentation systems preferred. **What Truesdale Medical Center Offers** - Flexible one-day-per-week onsite schedule. - Independent contractor 1099 arrangement. - Opportunity to integrate this role alongside an existing practice, retirement schedule, or other professional commitments. - Dedicated dental assistant support. - Minimal practice overhead and administrative burden. - Direct collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. - Meaningful opportunity to expand access to essential dental care in the community.
