## Description

# Construction Accounting Manager

**Phoenix, AZ | On-Site | Full-Time | Up to $125,000**

A well-established, privately held organization is seeking a **Construction Accounting Manager** to join its Phoenix team. This is a hands-on leadership role with direct exposure to the CFO and senior management, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations while supporting the financial performance of active construction projects.

The ideal candidate brings a strong construction accounting background, including **WIP, job costing, progress billing, change orders, and project financial reporting**, along with experience leading an accounting team.

## What You’ll Do

- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and accounting personnel

- Manage the general ledger and support the monthly close process

- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements

- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, collections, and payroll

- Prepare cash management reports, monitor cash flow, and identify potential financial concerns

- Partner with Project Managers and department leaders to review project financial performance

- Track and analyze **WIP, job costs, project budgets, and construction-related variances**

- Support **progress billing and change-order accounting**

- Maintain accurate financial records and effective internal controls

- Prepare monthly financial and operational reporting for management

- Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, compliance, insurance reporting, and other special projects

- Help maintain and optimize Sage and other construction-related accounting systems

## What We’re Looking For

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

- **8+ years of accounting experience**

- **3+ years of accounting management experience**

- **3+ years of construction accounting experience required**

- Strong understanding of **WIP and job costing**

- Experience with **progress billing, change orders, and project budgets**

- Strong month-end close, GL, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience

- Experience overseeing AP, AR, payroll, and cash management

- Strong Excel skills

- **Sage construction accounting software experience is highly preferred**

- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
