Probably a real opening. ## Visa sponsorship - **H-1B:** No H-1B sponsorship on record for Dem-Con Companies. - **E-Verify:** No E-Verify enrollment on record for Dem-Con Companies. ## Pay for similar jobs Most similar jobs pay $46,000 – $59,000 a year (median $52,000). ## Description The Equipment Operator / Class A Driver position is responsible for transferring, spreading and loading MSW, Clean Wood, C and D waste, and Single Sort Recyclables to ensure materials are transported and disposed of in an appropriate manner. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** - Transfer, spread, cover, load and/or compact solid waste or soil while operating excavators, loaders, landfill compactors, backhoes, tractors and skid steers as well as off-road trucks - Process materials for recycling while operating grinders and screeners - Operate heavy commercial trucks, tractor-trailers and roll-offs - Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment and vehicles - Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles - Maintain various records and/or logs - Wash, lubricate and fuel equipment and vehicles - Pick materials from incoming loads - Carry out site grounds maintenance including; picking litter, mowing, weed whipping, street sweeping, plowing and dust control - Perform building and other stationary equipment maintenance - Perform other related duties as assigned **EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:** - High school diploma or GED - Class A CDL - Previous experience with heavy equipment - May be required to obtain various certifications related to assigned area of responsibility **WORK CONDITIONS:** Outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions; work with and around heavy machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions, possible exposure to toxic chemicals **PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
