Our client, a rapidly growing AI startup founded by leading researchers in the field, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Finance Manager to build and oversee the company's finance function from the ground up. ***This is a full-time, in-person role based in the Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage the company's finance infrastructure, including accounting, payroll, payments, and expense management systems.
- Oversee the month-end close and financial reporting across all entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in coordination with external accountants.
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, and treasury operations to provide clear visibility into company performance and runway.
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Develop and maintain key financial metrics, dashboards, and reports that translate data into actionable insights.
- Ensure compliance across U.S. and European entities, coordinating with tax, accounting, and legal advisors as needed.
- Continuously improve and automate financial processes to enhance scalability, speed, and accountability.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or FP&A, ideally blending investment banking experience with hands-on finance work in a high-growth or venture-backed tech startup.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (U.S. GAAP; IFRS a plus).
- Proven success designing and implementing scalable financial systems and processes.
- Experience managing multi-entity operations across jurisdictions and collaborating with external accounting and audit partners.
- Highly detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working independently in a distributed, fast-paced environment.
- Low-ego, ownership-driven mindset and a passion for building from first principles.
